You might want to take note of this date: Monday Sept 16th, 2013. Why? Because that was the day I had a meeting with Gina Pecorelli, the Senior Community Investment Manager from Telus. (She was my main contact for Telus’s participation in the makeover and the Convoy.) She contacted me to arrange meeting so that she could hear what my potential plans for the future of HeroWork are.
After I explained all the possible avenues forward, Gina made a suggestions: “Have you ever thought about a nationwide Convoy of Awesome?”
Hmm, I thought. That idea has merit. The more I’ve thought about it the more merit it seemed to have.
Will it happen? I haven’t decided yet. I’m doing research and brainstorming. It could be a great project that could make a huge difference. Plus it would be a AWESOME road trip.
It certainly doesn’t mean that I won’t be doing extreme makeovers. But the strategies and systems I’ve created to organized makeovers can be used for any extreme community event. So why not? A nationwide series of connected Convoy of Awesome events to benefit food banks is no harder than a single extreme makeover.
Stay tuned as this one unravels.
Here’s a few pics from this year’s Convoy of Awesome in which we raised over $50,000 worth of food and donations for the Mustard Seed.
