HeroWork is looking for volunteers leaders!
Help lead volunteer teams during our 2017 Radical Renovations. It’s a great opportunity to be a community role model, participate in something totally amazing, and make a big difference at the same time.
One event will be in July for Power To Be and the other in September for Anawim House (info on each below).
We need both renovation and non-renovation leaders and coordinators. These positions require participation weeks prior to the event for training and organizational purposes. If interested, we are holding info sessions on May 9th and 11th at the Vancouver Island Construction Association, 1075 Alston Street, from 6pm-7:30pm. Register for the 9th here and for the 11th here. You’ll hear about both projects, more about the various roles, and be able to break out into groups for deeper orientation. If you want to be involved, but can’t make either of these days, just reply to this email and let us know.
Here is a list of some of the possible roles:

Chris Stansfield of Garden City, Landscape Leader
- Safety Leaders
- Food Service Coordinators
- Carpentry Coordinators
- Blog Writers
- Site Coordinators
- Reno Area Coordinators
- Volunteer Coordinators
- Photography Coordinator

- And much more…
Thanks for considering one of these roles! It’s an unforgettable experience to see a Radical Renovation event from beginning to end.
Power To Be Project Synopsis:
Power To Be provides inclusive adventures in nature for people living with barriers. This summer Radical Renovation will be at the former Prospect Lake Golf Course on July 8-9 and 15-16. The purpose of this renovation will be to help transform this golf course into a world class adventure based hub for Power To Be’s participants. We will be creating campsites, platforms, fire pit structure, pathways, accessible ramps, naturalizing of the site, etc.
Anawim House Project Synopsis:
The fall renovation will be for Anawim House at Caledonia and Vancouver. Anawim House is a place for people living in poverty and trying to find a new way of life. Our job is to lift up their house via four outcomes: increased health and safety through a new nurse’s room, more one-on-one counselling through new dedicated spaces (includes building extension), better transportation for homeless finding work through a new bike shop and program, and, lastly, a deeper sense of belonging through the refreshing of the building (paint, deck, landscaping, etc.).
